How well do Special Educational Needs and Disabilities pupils do in our school?

At Sidegate we aim for every child to achieve their best and reach their full potential.

Pupils do not make linear progression through the curriculum. Some children will be working at below age related expectations and some above.

Pupils' attainment against national criteria is measured through teacher assessment and end of Key Stage tests. Pupil progress is measured from one starting point to another, eg from one year to the next. National data focuses on English and maths.

Pupils who are not working at the level of the National Curriculum are assessed against "P-scales".

Your child's class teacher and/or the SEND Coordinator can discuss attainment and progress with you at Parents' Consultations or you can arrange a meeting separately during the term.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum at Sidegate that gives all pupils opportunities to succeed in a range of subjects, not just those that are academic.
