Welcome to Sidegate Community Primary School

Sidegate is a three-form entry primary school located in the north of Ipswich, Suffolk. The school has an admission number of 90 children per year group. Children start school in the academic year (1st September to 31st August) in which they are 5 years old. This is called the "Reception Year". They remain at primary school for 7 years, finishing in the academic year in which they are 11 years old.

The school also has 25 places for children of primary age with complex learning difficulties in two Specialist Support Classes.

The school is supported by Cabin Crew, an independent provider located on the school site, that provides before and after school care and a holiday club. Co-located with Cabin Crew is Little Acorns Pre-School that provides day-care for children from the age of two.

The school feeds Northgate and Copleston High Schools. We maintain good links with both institutions to ensure smooth transition for pupils moving from Year 6 to Year 7.

The school is located on a large site and is extremely well resourced. We have extensive playing fields and playgrounds; an indoor, heated swimming pool; a large library/learning zone; wi-fi throughout the school building; and a good supply of net-book/laptop/desktop/tablet computers.

We welcome new families to our school and hold regular school tours with the headteacher or deputy head; we will do our very best to accommodate your needs, if you cannot attend the scheduled tours. Meetings can also be arranged with our Assistant Head (Inclusion) to discuss any special educational needs, medical needs or disabilities. Please contact the school office for further information.
